I really enjoyed the two courses (Beginners - making a tote bag and Level 1 sewing course) that I attended with Precious. There is a real sense of achievement when you have a completed bag/garment that you have made yourself. Precious is very patient and makes the classes fun.

A Wonderful Introduction to Sewing -- Highly Recommended!

I recently completed the beginner's sewing course at Precious Hyness School of Design and I can honestly say it was one of the best decisions I've made. Over five fantastic weeks, I gained so much more than I expected.

Precious is an incredible teacher -- patient, clear in her explanations, and genuinely supportive and encouraging throughout. She created a warm, welcoming environment that made learning feel enjoyable rather than daunting, which is exactly what you need as a complete beginner.

The course itself was brilliantly structured, covering a great range of skills at a comfortable, manageable pace. Nothing felt rushed, and by the end I felt like I had a solid foundation to build on. I'm now feeling genuinely empowered to take on my own sewing project -- something I wouldn't have dreamed of before starting!

Beyond the skills I picked up, I also had the pleasure of meeting some lovely people along the way, which made the whole experience even more enjoyable.

What's also great is that there are further courses available, so I'm already looking into what's next. I'm really glad I took the course and can't wait to see where this new skill takes me.

What a joy to take part in the beginners' sewing course! I absolutely loved it and it was a real privilege to learn from Precious. I would do the intermediate course in a heartbeat. Would thoroughly recommend!

Working on advancing my sewing skills, and found precious online. She understood the level I was currently at with sewing and really
helped in areas I wasn't confident in. There's so much that I learnt with precious, that I didn't know before. Great teacher and will definitely be booking more sessions!

I recently took the intermediate sewing class with Precious at Hyness School of Design and had a fantastic experience. Precious has a clear and approachable teaching style, and she takes the time to explain techniques in a way that's easy to follow.

The location is ideal with good parking. I also liked that the class sizes are kept small, as it allows for more individual attention and support when needed.

I have sat 2 courses and a workshop in the Hyness School of Design, Precious is an experienced tutor with clear passion for her craft and patience with students. Whether a confident newbie or a total beginner.

I attended Precious' beginners and immediate sewing course. I very much enjoyed the experience and learning a new skill. The classes are small and well organised. I found Precious encouraging and patient, with lots of one-to-one guidance.

The class was fantastic, my 15 year old enjoyed it immensely, learning things like use of an overlocker and how to create a button hole. The design elements were also great.

My daughter attended Precious' sewing workshop today and really enjoyed it. She said it was fun to create her own skirt and scrunchie and then to be able to show it off during the little runway show. She also said Precious was really kind and attentive. From my point of view I just want to mention how professional the set up in the studio looked. Another great touch are all the small details that just add to the great experience: the special paper that the girls were creating their patters on with the school logo, nice packaging for the finished items, the little label inside the skirt saying handmade with love, etc.
Looking forward to the beginning of the courses for the younger designers in September!

I recently had a great one-to-one session with Precious. I have a new machine and had not sewn in years. The session was fabulous - just what I needed. Familiarity with the machine, threading, terminology and great tips including how to obtain supplies. I am sure I will go again, once I get the basics down by practicing. Precious was EXTREMELY patient, good humoured and knowledgeable - I got so lucky finding her. At the risk of a bad pun, I was treated royally!! I cannot recommend this enough.
