In August 2009 NHS Milton Keynes Urgent Care Services (MKUCS) open its doors to provide a dedicated NHS Urgent Care Service in Milton Keynes.
Since then, local GPs and Milton Keynes Hospital have been working together to build a service that will ensure that those who need it will be able to get immediate treatment for urgent conditions that are not urgent enough to require treatment in the A&E department, but cannot wait until the patient can see their own GP.
This service complements services offered by GPs or the Hospital A&E department. MKUCS is a Community Interest Company specifically formed to provide this service.
