Wonderful facilities
The Medical School doesn't support its students. They belittle, threaten and undermine them and even discriminate against students who need more help. You're treated like school children from day one. The programme isn't flexible or inclusive and they don't change things to fix it even when students give feedback. The culture of this medical school really just adds to the toxicity that exists in the med profession.
The processes in place in the Medical programme are designed in such a way that makes it excessively difficult for smart and hardworking students to succeed. The attrition rate is extremely poor. Roughly half of the students in the recent Medical School class failed to pass their first year. Then out of this group only half of them passed to then continue their studies. This wasn't due to COVID but due to poor quality teaching and not enough preparation for assessments with content that wasn't fairly testing expected learning outcomes.
You should also avoid attending this University in the event that you are allocated to the Crewe campus. The infrastructure there is extremely lacking and students at the campus feel like second class citizens compared to students in Buckingham. They even had to fight to get a library!
It feels like they did what they needed to do to check off the boxes to get GMC approval but since then it's gone downhill.
Honestly if you dream of becoming a doctor, you will be at a disadvantage both academically and financially by attending here over any of the other medical schools in this country!
