I love this riding school and all the ponies. The teachers are excellent. I am an adult rider who came with little knowledge or experience but people have patiently encouraged me in every aspect of my riding and horsemanship. Everyone, students, teachers, livery and loaners are supportive and kind. The cafe is brilliant. The staff get to know everyone by name and order. It's a place you can pop into and chat about all horse related issues. I have seen complaints about the cafe loo only being open to customers. This is true because the cafe is an independent entity but there are other toilets in the yard. The main thing is the love and care of the horses which to me is most important.

Bryerley Springs is so much more than just a riding school - it is a truly special place for children to learn, grow and thrive. The instructors are exceptional, with so much patience, knowledge and genuine care for every child and horse. Their attention to detail around safety is second to none, and every lesson is delivered to such a high standard.

The team are incredibly supportive and always encourage children to believe in themselves, succeed and reach their full potential. Whether your child is a complete beginner or looking to progress further, they create an environment where every child feels valued, included and capable.

The ponies themselves also deserve so much praise. They do such incredible work, helping children build confidence, resilience, patience and trust. Their gentle nature and the special bonds they create with the children make such a difference, and it is clear they are loved and cared for by everyone at Bryerley Springs.

What really makes Bryerley Springs stand out is the wonderful sense of community. It is a safe, welcoming space for children who may be struggling with anxiety, confidence, bullying or simply finding their place. The hard work, kindness and dedication from the whole team never goes unnoticed.

A huge thank you to Bev, Bryan, Amalene, Ella and her team of incredible riding instructors for everything they do every single day. Their passion, support and dedication create such a positive environment for both children and families.

Bev and Bryan have created such a beautiful business and opened it up for so many families to enjoy. We are so grateful to be part of the Bryerley Springs community and could not recommend it enough to anyone considering lessons for their children.

If you have not been before, book yourself and your family an assessment lesson first. Also keep an eye out for Own a Pony Days, camps and so much more!

Horse welfare is appalling, horses are not given hay (for 8+ hours a day sometimes), 1 rein pelhams are used (no roundings) by beginners, horses are overworked, being worked when they are lame etc! Would not recommend

Business Owner January 6, 2026

Dear Connor,

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review.

You were asked to leave the yard and not return several months ago due to concerns regarding your conduct. It is clear that you feel aggrieved by this decision, which we believe has contributed to the negative review you have chosen to leave.

We are proud to provide a high standard of care for our horses and ponies, working closely with qualified professionals to ensure their welfare is always our top priority. Many of the horses and ponies in our care are rescues and do not always arrive in good condition. Supporting their rehabilitation and improving their quality of life is something we are deeply passionate about.

The images you have shared are of a two-year-old pony who arrived during the summer. As with many young or rescued animals, condition and development can vary on arrival, and appropriate nutrition, care, and time are essential parts of their progress.

We stand by the standards of care we provide and remain committed to the welfare and wellbeing of all horses and ponies at our yard.

Thankyou for sharing.

Bryerley offers good livery options, from DIY to Full livery, and has good varity of facilities woth two indoor, two outdoor areas, walker, flexible turnout options, a great cafe, clinics, clear rounds, gymkhanas, etc.
Pony club and adult lessons also offer a lot of options for differently levels and different timings to accommodate everyone.
All in all there is something for everyone.
A great community is what makes this my personal favourite.

I keep my horses here and honestly wouldn't want them anywhere else. Facilities well maintained and the riding school offers lots of opportunities for both adults and children.

I have been riding at Bryerley Springs for several years now and I'm absolutely blown away by the services this yard has to offer. A structured learning environment with wonderful and well cared for horses, brilliant and friendly instructors and amazing facilities. They cater for all riders, including adults and have a very supportive community. I am very lucky to loan one of the riding school horses and it has helped my riding education massively. It gives the knowledge of how it feels to have your own horse without the big commitment. I have completely come out of my shell since loaning here and there is so much support from very knowledgeable owners and staff and I couldn't thank everyone enough. Lots of types of rides available, from hacking to clinics and gymkhanas. I recommend this riding school to everyone who is beginning their riding journey, or returning from a long time break. Reasonably priced lessons and horses for everyone, from shetlands to draft horses. It's very inclusive. Thank you to everyone on this yard

Ponies were clearly lame and still jumping and being ridden. Horses left tied all day no food or water absolutely horrific. Putting teens on young horses that have no idea how to handle them. It's horrific.

Business Owner October 22, 2025

Dear Isabella,

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review.

We are genuinely sorry to hear that you have concerns regarding the welfare of our animals. We take all feedback seriously, particularly when it involves the standard of care we provide. It is unfortunate that you did not contact us directly to discuss these concerns before sharing them publicly, as we would have welcomed the opportunity to address them with you in person.

We would like to reassure you that animal welfare is our highest priority. All of our horses are carefully managed to ensure they are happy and healthy, in accordance with the Five Domains model outlined by World Horse Welfare. The claims made in your review do not reflect the care and standards we uphold.

Additionally, we have no record of your attendance at our centre.

We are always striving to improve and value all customer feedback, whether positive or negative. If you would like to discuss this matter further, we would be more than happy to do so. Please feel free to contact us at rrumbold@btconnect.com
