Anton du Beke heads to Milton Keynes
Strictly Come Dancing star Anton du Beke is set to appear at Milton Keynes Theatre in early 2028. He will take on dual roles as Great Uncle Matthew and Fidolia in a National Theatre production of the classic story, Ballet Shoes.
This production reimagines Noel Streatfeild’s beloved novel, aiming to capture the spirit of the original while offering a fresh perspective.
A story of ambition and family
The play centres on three adopted sisters, Pauline, Petrova, and Posy, who live in a dilapidated house filled with historical artefacts. They navigate their identities and aspirations under the guidance of their guardians and other residents.
The narrative explores the challenges faced by women with significant ambitions in a world not always designed for them. It questions whether they can create their own futures, maintain their family bonds, and pursue their dreams, including artistic endeavours.
Anton du Beke expressed his enthusiasm for the role, stating his admiration for the production after seeing it with his family. He described the show as beautiful and joyful, highlighting his eagerness to join the cast.
Du Beke sees this as an opportunity to further develop his acting abilities. He noted that dance and family are central themes, representing the most important aspects of his life.
