Stony Stratford’s York House Centre will host a special event, Worlds Collide Day, on Saturday, October 31. The celebration aims to bring together fans of science fiction and literature for a day of entertainment and fundraising.
Familiar faces from Doctor Who
Several actors known for their roles in the iconic Doctor Who series are scheduled to appear. Terry Molloy, who portrayed Davros, the creator of the Daleks, will be present. Ian Reddington, who played the Chief Clown in Doctor Who, is also confirmed. Mickey Lewis, a performer who has appeared as a Dalek, Cyberman, and Sea Devil within the Doctor Who universe, will attend, alongside actress and author Jessica Martin.
The event will feature various activities including readings, live performances, comedy, and interviews. Attendees will have the opportunity for book signings and to purchase merchandise.
Exploring fictional worlds
Worlds Collide Day will delve into the universes of Doctor Who and ‘The Periwinkle Perspective’, a series of novels written by Paul Eccentric. Mr. Eccentric, a writer, performer, and dedicated Doctor Who fan, will host the day’s proceedings. The programme includes Terry Molloy reading from ‘Skaro by Gaslight’.
A notable highlight will be the world premiere of ‘Daleks’, a radio play originally written by Terry Nation. Ian Reddington will introduce this special performance. Visitors can also expect to see original Doctor Who props and costumes on display.
The event offers a chance to meet the guests and participate in an artists’ panel. This panel will be co-hosted by Paul Eccentric and Sean Calvert, providing an opportunity for attendees to ask questions.
Community fundraising focus
The day is dedicated to raising funds for the York House Centre’s ‘Building for our future’ campaign. This initiative seeks to secure the long-term future of the community centre, a vital resource for the Stony Stratford and wider Milton Keynes area.
Jessica Martin will launch her new novel, ‘Mud, Myth and Murder’. The programme also includes stand-up comedy from Nigel Wolfin and a live performance of Paul Eccentric’s ‘The Poet’s Wife’. Additionally, Mr. Eccentric’s latest Periwinkle Perspective novel, ‘The Gin Wars’, will be launched.
Attendees are encouraged to embrace the theme by dressing as their favourite Doctor Who or Periwinkle Perspective character. Worlds Collide Day runs from 10.30am to 5pm. Tickets are priced at £15 and can be purchased via the provided link.
