A new hub for live entertainment, House of Montra, is set to launch in Milton Keynes this month. The venue is located on Midsummer Boulevard, taking over the premises formerly occupied by Bistro Live. Bistro Live closed its doors in February of last year, having been a popular spot for nearly 25 years.
Phased Opening and Local Talent Call
Instead of a single grand opening event, House of Montra will introduce its offerings incrementally throughout October. This phased approach will culminate in a full public opening on Thursday, October 29th. The establishment has issued an open invitation to entertainers of all experience levels within the local area. They are encouraged to make contact to explore opportunities for performing at the new venue.
Aaron Mills, the owner of House of Montra, expressed his vision for the space. He stated, “We want Montra to be the room where people get their shot.”
The venue aims to provide a platform for both emerging and established artists. This includes a specific focus on comedy nights designed to offer new acts a significant audience alongside seasoned performers. Mills acknowledged the void left by the closure of Bistro Live, a venue that served Milton Keynes for a quarter of a century. While not seeking to replicate the past, House of Montra intends to re-establish a compelling reason for residents to engage with live entertainment multiple nights per week.
Diverse Weekly Programme and Late Hours
House of Montra’s operational structure is built around a consistent weekly schedule. Thursdays are dedicated to comedy performances. Fridays will feature live bands, offering a platform for local musicians. Saturday daytime will focus on sporting events, transitioning into late-night club events as the evening progresses.
The venue’s licence permits operation until 4 am. This extended hour capability allows for the screening of late-night sporting fixtures, particularly those from the United States, and enables longer club nights. In addition to its regular programming, House of Montra is also accepting bookings for group events, corporate functions, and Christmas parties in anticipation of the upcoming festive period.
