Boost Recycling Efforts in MK
Milton Keynes City Council is calling on residents to enhance their recycling habits during the national Recycle Week, running from 14 to 20 September.
The initiative aims to encourage the separation of more recyclable materials from general waste.
MK’s Recycling Success
Milton Keynes holds the distinction of being England’s leading city for recycling. It also ranks as the second highest-performing local authority across the entire UK, based on recent government data.
The council seeks to build upon this strong performance by urging citizens to place even more recyclable items into the correct bins.
Commonly Missed Recyclables
Despite a generally high level of recycling awareness, many items that could be recycled are still frequently disposed of in general waste. These include items such as shampoo bottles, empty aerosol cans, aluminium foil, and plastic yoghurt pots.
Other frequently discarded recyclables mentioned are trigger spray bottles and the cardboard tubes from toilet rolls.
This year’s national campaign, themed ‘Rescue Me’, uses character-based examples to illustrate the potential transformation of everyday items when recycled properly.
