Space and Technology Festival Comes to Milton Keynes

Milton Keynes residents are invited to a festival exploring technological advancements and the cosmos. The City of Codes & Light Festival, organised by Milton Keynes Islamic Arts & Culture (MKIAC), is set to take place on Saturday, October 3.

This event is part of MKIAC’s ongoing calendar of community activities. It promises a vibrant display of digital storyboards, illuminated artworks, and lantern parades that will traverse different areas of Milton Keynes.

Interactive Learning and Special Performances

The festival will offer interactive STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts & Mathematics) sessions tailored for young attendees. These sessions aim to deepen understanding of the festival’s central themes.

A fitting theme for the year, following a recent solar eclipse, is ‘Moon Colonies & Future Architecture’. This concept was highlighted by Anouar Kassim MBE, Founder of MKIAC, who noted the festival’s goal to showcase Milton Keynes’ diverse culture and unite communities.

The festival celebrates the convergence of art, science, technology, and culture within the city. Attendees can also look forward to a live performance by Northants Sings Out, the Britain’s Got Talent 2024 semi-finalists.

Extended STEAM Festival in October

Building on the success of the initial event, MKIAC will host an extended STEAM Festival on Tuesday, October 20 and Wednesday, October 21. This follow-up event will also feature a Science Dome and various engaging activities for all age groups.

Both the City of Codes & Light Festival and the subsequent STEAM Festival will be held at Middleton Hall, located at 300 Saxon Gate, Milton Keynes, MK9 2ES. Admission to both events is free of charge for all attendees.

MKIAC, established following 9/11, has a history of using artistic initiatives to foster community cohesion. The organisation is recognised nationally, holding an Arts Council National Portfolio Organisation status, the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service, and the City of Sanctuary Arts Award earlier this year.
