New Management at Wolverton Site

SUEZ, a prominent waste management and recycling firm, has officially taken over the operation of Milton Keynes City Council’s Waste Recovery Park. The site is located in Wolverton.

This transition marks the beginning of a new 10-year contract for the facility, which commenced yesterday. SUEZ is already familiar with Milton Keynes, providing existing waste and recycling collection services, as well as street cleansing.

Sustainable Waste Processing

The Waste Recovery Park is instrumental in processing household waste that cannot be recycled. It employs sustainable methods to treat refuse.

This operation allows Milton Keynes to divert nearly all its waste away from landfill sites. Furthermore, the facility generates enough energy to power approximately 10 per cent of homes within the city.

Local Recycling Success

Milton Keynes has achieved national recognition for its recycling efforts. Last year, the city ranked as England’s top performer in national recycling statistics.

The Waste Recovery Park plays a significant role in maintaining this high standard. Councillor Jennifer Wilson-Marklew, Cabinet Member for Sustainability, highlighted the park’s importance in waste diversion and energy generation.

The council expressed gratitude to the previous operator, Thalia, for their contributions since the facility’s opening in 2018. SUEZ is welcomed as the new partner, expected to continue delivering efficient and environmentally responsible services for residents.
