Lartigue exhibition wraps up at MK Gallery

The MK Gallery is presenting a final opportunity for residents to engage with its current exhibition, ‘Jacques Henri Lartigue: Life in Colour’. The show, which features the work of the renowned French artist, will conclude its run this coming Sunday, October 4th.

To mark the exhibition’s closing, a special guided tour has been arranged. This event will take place on Saturday, October 3rd, at 2pm.

Discover a photography pioneer

The exhibition focuses on Jacques Henri Lartigue, a French painter, writer, and photographer. He is widely recognised for his black and white images capturing Parisian society during the Belle Époque era at the turn of the 20th century.

Lartigue also documented significant developments of his time, including early car racing and aviation. His work extended to capturing the lifestyle of the mid-century French Riviera and his travels in the United States.

He is considered a pioneer of instantaneous photography, a style that paved the way for modern street photography.

Planning your visit

The guided tour offers a unique chance to explore the collection with insight from Marion Perceval, Director of Donations Lartigue. The tour is part of the gallery’s efforts to draw attention to the exhibition’s final days.

MK Gallery provides various access options for local visitors. Residents of Milton Keynes can purchase tickets for just £1 every Tuesday. Entry is free for individuals under 21. Additionally, a ‘pay what you can’ scheme is available on the first Sunday of each month, with suggested prices ranging from £5 to £15.
