During his time on the parish council, he served as Chair of both New Bradwell Parish Council and Stantonbury Parish Council. This extensive experience has provided him with a deep understanding of local governance and the specific needs of the New Bradwell area.
He has a history of engagement with MK City Council, participating in numerous consultations on key issues such as transport, environmental policies, housing development, sustainability initiatives, and local planning matters.
Mr. Francis was also part of MK City Council’s Climate Change Task & Finish group. This group was instrumental in developing recommendations that informed the council’s Sustainability Strategy.
Environmental and Road Safety Campaigns
His campaigning efforts have directly led to tangible improvements within the community. These include the introduction of new footpaths and the installation of a new zebra crossing, enhancing road safety for residents.
He has also advocated for alternative waste solutions in areas with terraced housing and flats, aiming to prevent pavements from being obstructed by wheelie bins.
Mr. Francis’s personal commitment to the environment is evident in his regular walks and cycles around New Bradwell, allowing him to identify areas for improvement.
His practical involvement in environmental projects includes tree planting in Joan’s Piece woodland near the canal, and more recently, hedge planting at Stanton Low Country Park, close to Oakridge Park.
The by-election follows the passing of councillor Mahendran. Mr. Francis extended condolences to her family and friends.
